• Faith Teyei Afan is a Nigerian fashion designer, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of Teyei’s Couture

Teyei was born and raised in Jos, Nigeria, to a family of 4. She is currently an English major student at the prestigious University of Jos.

She completed her secondary education at the Girls’ High School Gindiri, where her interest in designing was first conceived. After her secondary education, her drive for fashion increased and she learned to sew for two years. Teyei’s drive for designs grew astronomically high when she started designing and sewing for herself and for her siblings and close friends.

  • In early 2016, Teyei moved from sewing in her bedroom to an empty room in the house where she started her entrepreneurial adventure with two sewing machines. In the same month, about four ladies showed interest in wanting to learn under her, but only two eventually got enrolled.
With the increase in demand for designs and ladies interested in wanting to learn, Teyei lunched her label Teyei’s Couture

Teyei’s desire to educate the public, especially her immediate community, about fashion intensified in early 2019. This gave birth to an online campaign tagged #DoYouKnow. The aim was to educate those on social media on some tips and information in the fashion industry. This campaign ran for about a year.

  • In September 14, 2019, she organized her first fashion meetup, with the theme “Role of Fashion in Plateau State: What Needs to Change” and the hashtag #JosFashionMeetUp out of the desire to have an intense discussion around the fashion industry in Plateau State. The event had in attendance other fashion designers, photographers, on-air personalities, bloggers, models, and possible investors, among others.

In December 11, 2021, Teyei was selected to be part of the Teyei’s Couture’s first webinar series Speakers, where she emphasized that “every body shape on earth is beautiful” and the need to “understand your body type…dress according to your body shape.”

On December 22nd, 2021, Teyei was nominated and won the “Plateau Man of the Year Awards 2021” under the “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” category.

  • Teyei is married.

  • When she isn’t glued to her drawings and design, she spends time on outdoor walks and creating new designs from different inspiration outside, she also loves reading, cooking and singing amongst others.
